Hiking Apek Hill Kuala Lumpur ,Malaysia

Apek Hill Trail is a 8.2 kilometer loop trail located near Cheras, Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia that features a waterfall and is rated as moderate. The trail is primarily used for hiking and walking.

Ah Pek hill, part of the Bukit Putih forest reserve is a popular spot for hikers. You can find hikers there almost anytime throughout the day, from as early as 6.00 am till 6.00 pm.

There are several stops or stations created by the local hiking community along the path namely Level 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, Gold stop and the Small Bridge station. The trail here quit complected .The 5 km trail itself consists of a mix of flat terrain as well as moderate and steeper climbs, and can be completed within 1.5 hours. There is also a small waterfall nearby that hikers can take a detour to enjoy a refreshing splash.

Signboards and maps

There are undoubtedly insufficient signboards and maps at Apek Hill. So far, I only found few signboards along the trail. Therefore a first-time hiker needs to make effort to remember his route, or could get lost easily, either ending up at another place, or going round in circles.

The trails

Soon after you cross the archway of the main entrance, the pavement will eventually turn into nature’s pathway. Here you will be greeted by different trails.

What to bring

  • There aren’t many facilities but at station 3 have small Shelter selling drinking water .

  • wear a pair of comfortable walking shoes.

  • There is no toilet in Apek hill. Make sure you use the lavatory somewhere else before entering their Hill.

  • There are quite a lot of mosquitoes so remember to bring along the insect repellant. I do not encounter any leeches here.
