Bukit Tabur is a ridge located in Hulu Gombak Forest Reserve, Selangor, Malaysia. It is also known locally as Bukit Hangus, Dragon's Back and Crystal Hill. The quartz ridge is very prominent as it is part of Klang Gates Quartz Ridge and can be seen from the Kuala Lumpur Middle Ring Road 2. Hikers enter the trail near Kampung Klang Gates, 50 metres from the gates of the Klang Gates Dam, at the back of Taman Melawati for a 3-4 hour climb. The peak offers view of the dam and panoramic views of Kuala Lumpur from the north. Several endemic species of plant such as Aleisanthia rupestris are known to grow here.

First hiking through the forest
Some places it’s flat. But there is a lot of going up and down.
Note:Don’t go after the rain. There are a lot of rocks and muddy paths. It’s all gonna be very slippery and dangerous.
You can follow the arrow on the stone .
There are a lot of rocks further on.
So far not too dangerous. You can fall, of course. But if you are careful, you should be fine.And the trail also becomes more challenging on the top part .
The most difficult part of the trail was the highest part of it.
If you are an experienced hiker, you will not call it too difficult or dangerous. But this trail require you to stay focused for all of the time.
You are climbing over the rocks.
At one point, very near the highest point.

Information
Tabur is a very popular destination for experienced and inexperienced hikers alike, it is also a trail that has claimed multiple lives. What used to be a casual hiking destination has now been closed for a while now. While many are still enticed to take on the trail due to its unique terrain and the gorgeous view up top, it is highly recommended for you to obtain a permit or visit with an experience guide. You will have to negotiate many risky situations and therefore it is important for you to take the necessary precautions.
Trail
Starting point : Bukit Tabur (West), Bukit Tabur (East);
Time: around 4 to 6 hours to go up and down;
Difficulty : challenging;
Tips: go early, bring a big bottle of water with you & don’t go alone. Don’t go after the rain. There are a lot of rocks and muddy paths. It’s all gonna be very slippery and dangerous.
There are 2 trails in the area – Bukit Tabur (West) and Bukit Tabur (East).
Both offer very similar views, as they are located right next to each other. Hiking conditions on both are almost identical. Both I would include among the top places to go in KL. The main difference is that the Bukit Tabur (East) is said to be more challenging.
Trail information :
There are two trailheads for Bukit Tabur, the east and the west trail. The west trail is a more popular route and will be described below. The trail is straight forward but challenging. This is because there are many section on trail where it requires you to use both hands and legs to climb up and down the rock surface. An accidental slip or fall at some of these sections may result in a vertical drop of a few meters. Accidents, deaths and injuries has been reported.
The two more challenging section en route are known at the 1st rope and 2nd rope. The two rope sections consist of a natural rock cliff. To pass the cliff, the hiker need to descent by holding onto a rope while finding his footing. As there are no other support other than the rope to hang on to, a slip or fall may result to severe consequences. Inexperience hikers who are not confident may find the rope section scary and challenging. It is advisable to hike Bukit Tabur with someone more experience and familiar with the terrain.
It is possible to do a traverse for the west trail. Start at the GPS coordinates 3.234052, 101.749211. Depending on how crowded it is and the bottleneck situation, it takes approximately 3 hours to complete the west trail traverse.
